Cara Burnley, Board Member
Cara and her husband, Shawn, moved to Pawnee in 1999. She has been actively involved in the community, the school, and the Pawnee Christian Church. She has also been involved with the Chamber of Commerce for several years and owned a small business in Pawnee for almost 4 years.
She is currently a stay at home mom to Mason and Tucker and operates a floral business from home that specifically caters to weddings and events.
She is serving as the Chairman of the Zoning committee and also is a member of the Gas and Water committee.
Mark Gleason, Board Member
Mark was elected as Trustee of Pawnee in 2008. He has 33 years of Law Enforcement and leadership experience. Mark is the Chief of Police for the City of Leland Grove. Mark is engaged to Holli Smith and Holli has two daughters, Ashli and Kaytli Smith.
His community service includes 18 years on the Chatham Fire District, 2 years on the Pawnee Village Zoning Board),Past President of the Central Illinois Chiefs of Police, Secretary for the MTU # 10 Training Unit, Coach for the Pawnee Girls Softball. Mark has helped raising money for Big Brother, Big Sister programs and was Chairman for the Police Lawyer Golf Outing that all proceeds went to local programs helping kids.
Mark has graduated from the FBINA and Northwestern Staff and Command and is working to finish up his BA degree. In October 2008 Mark was name one of the ten finalists for the First Citizen nomination that is held each year by the State Journal Register.
Since being elected Trustee in 2008, Mark has led efforts to improve the sidewalks near and around the school area with grant money that was found and had not been used as of 2008. Since then most of the $35,000 grant money has been used on sidewalks and will be finishing up this grant by the end of 2011.
Phillip A. Thompson, Board Member
Long time resident of Pawnee. A Registered Professional Nurse with Internationally Recognized Certifications in the Operating Room (CNOR) and as a Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA) is employed by Vertos Medical as the Director of Professional Education. Owns and operates the Pawnee Shotokan Karate Club, located on the square in Pawnee.
Married for 31 years to Terri with three children: Christy - Academic Advisor at Holy Cross College, Notre Dame, Indiana. Alexander- Currently in Graduate School at Emory University, Atlanta Georgia. Drew – Currently in college at Quincy University, Quincy Illinois.
Serving third consecutive elected term as a trustee. Chair of Parks, Sewers and part of the Police Labor Negotiating team.
Steve Condon, Board Member
Steve has been a resident of Pawnee since January 1997. He currently resides with his wife of 14 years, Amy, and two daughters, Andrea and Sydney. Steve is employed full time for the Illinois Department of Corrections. He has been working for the Department of Corrections for 16 years. Steve is also an active volunteer firefighter and first responder for the Pawnee Fire Protection District. Steve was appointed to the Village Board to fill out the remainder of a vacated term, and has since run for reelection.
Emmerson Roderick, Board Member
Emmerson has been a resident of Pawnee since 1974. He was appointed to the current board making Mayor Clarke the 5th mayor he has served under.
He and his wife, Sheila, have one son, Brian.
Emmerson retired from the State of Illinois and is enjoying life in Pawnee.
Devona Martin, Clerk
Born and raised in Barry, Illinois, Devona graduated from Western Illinois University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Business. In 1996, she moved to Pawnee. She married Jason Martin the following year. Devona worked in the banking industry until 1998 when she was hired by State Farm Insurance as a Fire Claim Representative. Devona was appointed as Village Clerk in June 2009 by Mayor Jeff Clarke.
Devona and her husband have 3 sons. Twins, Blayne and Baylee that were born in April 2000 and Breck was born in March 2007.
Kelly Thein, Office Manager & Treasurer
Kelly has been employed with the Village of Pawnee since 1998. She was hired with the Police Department as a full-time dispatcher and later accepted a position at Pawnee Assembly of God as their Financial Secretary. Kelly continued to work for the department part-time until she was hired back full-time as the Village’s Office Manager and Treasurer.
Kelly has resided in Pawnee since the summer of 1977 and married Kitt Thein in 1995. They’re the proud parents of five boys and have had the pleasure of helping raise two girls. They now have the added pleasure of being grandparents.
Kelly attends the Pawnee Assembly of God Church and is involved with their outreach ministries such as the Annual Children’s Fall Festival and Public Memorial Day Picnic.
Michelle Featherston, Office Assistant
Michelle was born and raised in Pawnee and graduated with the Class of '76. She started with the Village in 1996 as a Police Dispatcher, transferring to the Billing Clerk position in 1998. She was a volunteer EMT for Pawnee Sangamac Ambulance and Pawnee Fire Department for eleven years. She has a part-time photography business, Featherston Photos, located in her home.
Michelle and her husband, David, have a son, Dalton, a daughter, Miranda, and a son-in-law Darrek. She also has five wonderful grandchildren, Jordan, Mason, Alyssa, Drake and Briar along with two step-granddaughters, Maddie and Mag.
