Every day there are people in our community struggling to pay their bills and put food on their tables. The Pawnee Food Pantry is pleased to announce that it has joined forces with the Springfield Meijer located at 4200 Conestoga Dr to help fill the void for those in need. A program through Meijer, titled “Simply Give,” aims to replenish the shelves of the Pawnee Food Pantry. The campaign runs from Sunday, August 20 through Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017. During this campaign a patron can purchase a Simply Give food donation card in increments of $10.00. Customers can find cards at Meijer kiosks near the checkouts or picked up at many of the Pawnee churches, businesses and organizations (including the Village). Cards can be redeemed at the Meijer store or leave your donation where you found the “Simply Give” donation card and the Pawnee Food Pantry will redeem at the Meijer Store on your behalf. Purchased cards are converted into Meijer food-only gift cards and given to the Pawnee Food Pantry. We encourage you to help us fulfill our mission of helping feed the hungry in Pawnee by purchasing a Simply Give food donation card. Tell your friends, relatives, neighbors and co-workers because every dollar makes a difference! For every $10 you donate, Meijer also donates. Contact any board member if you have any questions regarding this program or other ways to support the pantry. Dear Customer,
The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administrations has issued a new regulation that requires the Village of Pawnee to offer an Excess Flow Valve (EFV) to its customers. An Excess Flow Valve (EFV) is an extra safety device that can be installed in a service line providing natural gas to the meter. The main purpose of an EFV is to reduce the risk of a release of natural gas caused by excavation damage to the service line between the point of connection to the main and the meter. An excess flow valve will not prevent or stop leaks that might occur downstream of the meter. Not every service can accommodate an EFV. The installation of an EFV is not a requirement for existing natural gas service lines, however, at the request of a Village of Pawnee customer, one may be installed. The installation of an EFV would take one day and would require the excavation of the service line at the connection to the main line. If you would like an EFV installed in your service line, the cost you must pay is $1,000.00. This includes all labor, equipment and materials but does not include restoration of grounds disturbed by excavation. It is not likely but it is possible that future maintenance or replacement of the EFV might be necessary and could result in additional charges. If you would like to have an EFV installed or have any questions, please call our main office at 217-625-2941 or 217-416-1177 Sincerely, Andy Lee Gas Dept. Supervisor |
